Report on the Student Development Council (SDC) Inaugural Function 2026–2027

The Student Development Council (SDC) Inaugural Function for the academic year 2026–2027 was held on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, at 10.30 a.m. in the Saheli Auditorium. The ceremony marked the formal inauguration of the Student Development Council and the investiture of the newly elected student office bearers.
The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by the Principal, Dr. V. Gopi. The Chief Guest, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Director of the Anna Administrative Staff College, formally inaugurated the Student Development Council by lighting the traditional Kuthu Vilakku. The Chief Guest was introduced by the Event Coordinator, Dr. R. Pushpalatha, Head of the Department of Mathematics. Dr. J. Radhakrishnan then presented the SDC badges and sashes to the newly elected office bearers, including the Chairman, Chairperson, Secretaries, and Joint Secretaries representing the Academic, Cultural, and Sports Wings.
Around 250 students participated in this significant event, along with the Heads of Departments, faculty members, and administrative staff. The function was also graced by Shri Harish Kumar Sanghi, Secretary, JHA Agarsen College; Shri Murarilal Santholiya, Managing Trustee and Administrative Coordinator, AR Educational Trust (ARET); and Dr. T. S. Uma Maheshwari, Vice Principal.
In his inspiring keynote address, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, emphasized that leadership is about responsibility, service, and making a positive difference rather than power or position. He encouraged students to develop confidence through active participation, continuous learning, and practical experience. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, collaboration, mutual respect, and effective communication for success in both academic and professional life. He also urged students to embrace technology and Artificial Intelligence while upholding values such as integrity, empathy, and compassion. Furthermore, he motivated the student leaders to learn from failures, contribute meaningfully to society, and lead with confidence, humility, responsibility, and a spirit of service.
The Student Development Council (SDC) plays a vital role in promoting student leadership, organizing academic, cultural, and sports activities, and encouraging campus development through active student participation. The Chief Guest’s inspiring words and blessings greatly motivated the newly elected student leaders to uphold the values of leadership, discipline, responsibility, and service.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. K. Kalarani, Head of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
