- 4.48 Lakhs FTTH customers are available at Tamil Nadu Circle
- Urban and Rural Reach: Approximately 3.1 Lakhs connections are deployed in urban areas and 1.42 Lakhs connections are in rural areas
- Versatile Data Speed Options: The FTTH data speed spans from 30 Mbps to 300 Mbps, catering to the diverse needs of various customer segments.
- VoIP Inclusion: VoIP features are seamlessly integrated into these plans, providing additional communication options for users.

FTTH Penetration and Future Goals to bridge the digital gap
- The current FTTH penetration in the TN Circle is at 3.1% with respect to the households.
- BSNL aims to achieve a 6% penetration by March 31, 2024, focusing on reducing the digital divide, particularly in rural regions.
- Planning to install nearly 300 Optical Line Terminal Equipment in rural areas
Project “SAMAGARA SIKSHA –High Tech lab” Highlights:
- BSNL provided 2000 FTTH connections featuring a high data speed of 100 Mbps to Higher and Higher secondary schools across Tamil Nadu, including remote rural areas, during the month of Dec-2023.
- Best efforts will be made in subsequent months to provide connectivity to the schools in rural areas so that students can experience the new learning management system
Mission Mode Ferberization- 6 months action plan:
- Aim to convert all Copper wired line connections to fibre within next 6 months
- Customer can experience enhanced Data Speeds from 30 Mbps to 300 Mbps, surpassing the 10 Mbps data speed in copper

Specific plans for VoIP alone customers in Fiber segment: –
- Rs.249/- per month for rural & Rs.299/- per month for urban.
- 6-month plan of Rs.999/- to rural customers is the lowest Wire line plan available in the market
- Consumer Mobility
- USOF 4G SATURATION PROJECT by Government of India
- 4G saturation project is being under execution approved for 4G mobile connection 24,680 remote villages which are deprived of mobile service.
- BSNL is the approved agency to execute the project using Atmanirbhar Bharat’s 4G technology with a total cost of Rs. 26,316 crores.
- Funding through Universal Service Obligation Fund, named the Mission 500 project, aims for 4G connectivity by 31/03/2024.
- 516 uncovered villages identified in Tamil Nadu; 218 locations without 4G coverage pinpointed by BSNL will be provided 4G coverage.
- Key districts for coverage: Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Namakkal, and Salem.
- Remote areas like Sathya Mangalam forest, Kolli hills, Yercaud, etc., targeted for 4G connectivity under 4G saturation project
- Successful identification of land parcels for 185 revenue villages and 8 forest villages completed for tower installation with the support of Tamil Nadu Government
- Pending identification in 12 locations in Kanyakumari, one in Erode, and two in Udumalpet; awaiting Forest Department permission and we are trying to get approval of Forest Department in January 2024 to make 4G launching in ensuing months.
- Vendor M/s. Bondada completed civil works and tower erection at 145 sites, a significant milestone in project execution.
B. 4G MAIN PROJECT UNDER PHASE IX.2 by BSNL
- BSNL actively implementing 4G service under Phase IX.2, targeting 1 Lakh 4G nodes nationwide.
- Comprehensive project includes upgrading existing 2G and 3G nodes to 4G capability.
- Purchase Order (PO) issued on June 22, 2023, with an 18-month completion timeline.
- First indigenously developed 4G RAN deployed on February 27, 2023, at Ferozepur BA in the Punjab Circle.
- In Tamil Nadu circle, 5803 working sites (2G and 3G) to undergo comprehensive 4G upgrade.
- Additional 569 new 4G sites allocated, resulting in a total of 6372 4G sites for TN circle.
- All 4G nodes designed for future upgrades to 5G, ensuring advanced technology compatibility.
- 4G mobile Core equipment for deployment arrived at Trichy; installation scheduled for completion by February 2024.
- Customer Advisory: Existing BSNL mobile users with 2G/3G SIMS to upgrade to 4G for experiencing improved services.
- Free 4G SIM Upgrade: Customers can upgrade to a 4G SIM at no cost by visiting the nearest Customer Service Centre or authorized franchisee/retailer.
- Complimentary 4G Data: Users opting for the 4G SIM upgrade will receive free 4G data with a validity of 90 days.
C. Mobile Customer benefits & Offers
The following offers are extended to customers during Pongal.
- Free SIM Offer: waiving the SIM cost for all new mobile customers. This offer is valid until March 31, 2024.
- Full Talk Time Offer: A Full Talk Time offer is available on the Top-up voucher with an MRP of Rs.150/- for a limited period of 4 days from January 15, 2024, to January 18, 2024.
- Promo Offer: a special tariff voucher priced at Rs.91/- with a validity of 90 days.
Other Offers are
- Extra Validity Offer: additional validity of 30 days on the plan voucher with an MRP of Rs.2999. The voucher includes Unlimited calls, 3GB data per day, and 100 SMS per day, with a total validity of 395 days (365 + an extra 30 days).
- BSNL Selfcare App Discount: BSNL mobile prepaid customers who recharge their prepaid numbers through the BSNL Selfcare App are eligible for a 2% discount on all vouchers above MRP Rs.249/-.
