JHA Agarsen College to Host Two-Day Free Eye Screening Camp for Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Chennai: Jayagovind Harigopal Agarwal Agarsen College, Chennai, is set to commemorate its Silver Jubilee celebrations by organizing a two-day free eye screening camp in association with Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital and the Rotary Club of Chennai Poes Garden. The camp, themed “It’s Time for an Eye Test!”, will be held on December 17 & 18, 2025, from 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the Science Block of JHA Agarsen College.

The initiative forms part of the college’s 25 Years of Excellence celebrations and aims to promote preventive eye care and community well-being. The camp is open to faculties, students and parents will offer comprehensive eye check-ups.

Specialist consultations will be provided by Dr. K. Saraswathy (MBBS, MS Ophthal, PhD – Nano Drug Carriers), a specialist in vitreo-retinal services, contact lens consultation, and general ophthalmology, and Dr. Srinivasan Gounder (MBBS, MS Ophthal, FICO), a corneal and comprehensive ophthalmology specialist.

The event will be graced by Shri Aditya Agarwal, President of JHA Agarsen College, Chennai–600060, as the Chief Guest, and Rtn. Harish Kumar Sanghi, Secretary of JHA Agarsen College and President of the Rotary Club of Chennai Poes Garden, as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries include Rotary club poes Garden Secretary – RTN pinakhee Roy chaudhry Community Service Chair-RTN Sathish Babu, Shri Bal Govind Gupta (Treasurer), Shri Harish Kumar Lohia (Chairman – Silver Jubilee Committee), Dr.Lalitha Balakrishnan ( Consultant), Dr. V. Gopi (Principal), Dr. T. S. Umamaheswari (Dean Academics), along with Silver Jubilee Coordinators Shri Sailesh Chhaochharia and Shri Amit Gupta.

Dr.PG.Latha Maheswsri, Dr.N.Bhuvanadevi, Mrs.N.Shanthi, Mr.B.Samson and Mrs.K.Hemalatha coordinators stated that the camp reflects the institution’s strong commitment to social responsibility and preventive healthcare. The collaboration with a reputed eye hospital and the Rotary Club is expected to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups and early treatment of eye-related disorders among the students and staff.
